Bookings and Rental Conditions
When do I pay?
Payment is required when you collect the rental car. Credit card details are required when booking, and are charged when the rental car is collected. You can choose a different payment option. The credit card holder needs to be present when collecting the rental car.
What method of payment can I use?
We accept all major credit cards, EFTPOS, cash and travellers' cheques. A credit card must be supplied for the security bond.
What is the security bond?
$500.00 deposit via cash, eftpos, or credit card.
Put a deposit down and plus rental cost and you get the bond back once the car is returned.
Can I select make and model?
Take the guesswork out of car rental. If it's available, then you can rent it. We have cars and light trucks from most leading carmakers. You can choose the make and model through our online booking service.
Are my personal details and payment information secure when booking online?
We use 128-bit SSL encryption technology to process bookings to ensure information cannot be accessed by a third party. This is the same technology used by most banks.
If I cancel is there a cancellation fee?
A cancellation fee of one day's car rental is charged if cancelled within 24 hours of the collection date. If you fail to collect the vehicle the full rental price is charged.
Can I alter a booking? Is there an additional charge?
Yes, you can alter a booking up to the time of collecting the vehicle subject to availability. A change to a booking may require a re-quote from AABA Car Rentals.
What age do I have to be for car rentals?
Our insurance policy stipulates that anyone registered to drive an AABA rental car must be at least 25 years old. BMW rentals are only available to drivers who are at least 29 years old. Rolls-Royce rentals are only available to drivers who are at least 32 years old.
Do I need an international driver's licence?
Every driver must carry a valid open licence (no learner's or provisional licences will be accepted). You must have a valid licence from an accepted country, Australia, or an International Licence.
Do you hire baby seats and booster seats?
Yes. We have baby seats available for a small additional fee. All requests for baby seat and booster seats can be made through our online booking system.
Are the rental cars insured?
All standard cover insurance is included with the rental price. Customers have the option of reducing the excess by almost half by paying for premium coverage. This extra coverage can be as little as $15 a day.

On The Road
Who can drive the car?
Anyone who meets the age and licensing requirements can drive the vehicles. Every driver must be registered on the rental agreement at the time of hire.
How many kilometers per day are included in the price?
Most car rentals include 350-kilometres-a-day travel allowance. Specialty vehicles, such as the Hummers, BMWs and Rolls-Royces have a 100-kilometres-a-day travel allowance.
What is the price for kilometers over the rental-agreement allowance?
Additional kilometres are charged at 28 cents per kilometre.
Is there any restriction on where I can travel, or no-go areas?
AABA Car Rentals had no restrictions on where you can take your rental car. (budget vehicles are only to be driver in the Townsville City AREA) ( However the driver should be aware than in some instances the insurance may be voided, such as times when loading or unloading the rental car from ferries.
Is there support if I break down?
Yes. All rental cars have RACQ roadside assistance. The numbers to call can be found in the information pack given to all customers.
Can I extend the rental?
Yes. You can extend a car rental when collecting or during the rental period provided you give at least 48-hours notice. Extensions can only be granted on availability of the rental car and if payment for the extended period is received before the original return date. During peak rental periods, extensions may not be possible.
Can I tow with a rental car?
No. A rental car must not be used to tow or push anything as part of our rental terms and conditions(link to electronic version of Terms and Conditions).
Returning the Rental Car
Can I return the rental car after business hours?
Yes. If you need to return a rental car after business hours, then you must arrange a return time prior to drop off.
Can I return a car to another location?
No. All vehicles must be returned to the depot at 16 Langton Street, Garbutt for inspection and to finalise all paperwork. Receive a free courtesy drop off shuttle to / from the airport, ferry terminal, railway station, hotel/motels in the TOWNSVILLE AREA ONLY.

What happens if I return the car late?
Late arrivals will be charged at 1/5th the daily rental rate each hour the driver is overdue. The rental car may be required for another customer, so drivers who expect to be late should contact AABA Car Rentals as soon as possible.
How is the vehicle's condition assessed?
When picked up: A vehicle-condition report will be filled out with any faults or damage recorded. The customer should do his or her own inspection of the rental car to ensure all damage is included in the report before it is driven from the lot. The customer will receive a copy of the condition report.
When dropped off: Staff will inspect the car and compare the condition of the car to that noted in the vehicle-condition report. On completion of a satisfactory inspection the staff sign off and finalise the rental agreement.
